Leela Akka laid the foundations of what I used as the framework to build myself as a dancer. Learning dance as a rigorous discipline stretching over many years was ingrained in my young mind at a time when the extra energy was bursting to get out of my epidermal pores. Needless to say, I was eager to learn fast and lap it all up. But her calm patient glance would make me do the same adavu again and again and again instead of trying my hand at a new one :-)
